A week short of its 10th year, GMA News TV will become GTV starting tomorrow.
Dubbed as the country’s first free-to-air news and public affairs channel, GMA News TV started losing steam 3 years after its debut by adding a handful of entertainment programs. Despite reviving the Dobol B block in 2017 and its move from Channel 11 to Channel 27 in 2019, it only managed to maximize its news and public affairs programming to at most 80%.
By September 2020, GNTV’s news and public affairs programming, including its Dobol B block, began decreasing with the addition of movie blocks, anime in the morning and a couple of asianovelas.
