Regal Goes Telesine

Back in the day, Regal Entertainment teamed up with GMA for TV anthologies Mother Studio Presents and Regal Shocker. This time, they’re teaming up once again for a string of made-for-TV movies with Regal Studio Presents.

First feature for Regal Studio Presents is That Thin Line Between, starring Ken Chan and Sanya Lopez as Julius and Gemma Rose respectively. Julius lives a quiet life until Gemma Rose becomes his neighbor. Also part of the TV movie are Muriel Lomadilla, newcomers Shanelle Agustin at Sandro Muhlach. It is directed by Easy Ferrer.

This is not the first time for GMA to air made-for-TV movies. Aside from Mother Studio Presents, back in the 90s & early 2000s, made-for-TV movies were the norm, with GMA having its own Telesine Specials and ABSCBN having its own Star Drama Presents.

Among the TV movies next in line are Raya Sirena, starring…

The (mis)adventures of Puto and Uno are coming to an end tomorrow.

First aired on April 26, 2021, the series sequel of Puto stars Herbert Bautista, reprising his title role, along with McCoy de Leon as his son Uno, a bullied teen who’s half-dwende and has magical powers like his father. This marked McCoy’s first main project with Viva. The series scored a mere 1-2% (based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM). It will close another chapter with 13 episodes.

The sequel is as enjoyable as the movie, albeit with a modern take. McCoy, who starred in a number of miniseries in Wansapanatayn, proved that he’s no slouch when it comes to comedy fantasy. Bistek’s return to comedy is worth the price of admission. Even the supporting stars, including the Beks Batallion’s portrayal of the elves-turned-humans and part of the original cast, added a lot of flavor to the series.

Radio Got Higher: Remembering Radio High

radiohigh Radio High 105.9 (Hi-Definition Radio)

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of Radio High 105.9. Two weeks after Dream FM went off the air and was taken over by Energy FM, Crossover has found itself a new competitor and it happened to be beside each other. Coincidence? I think not.

HIGH FROM THE UNDERGROUND

At the beginning of July 2011, Francis Lumen, through his company Hi-Definition Radio, took over 105.9’s operations. The frequency was formerly leased to RJFM’s UR 105.9, which migrated its operations online as UR Faceradio after letting go of its lease a month prior.

On July 14, the station was launched as Radio High 105.9 with a smooth jazz format. Lumen was the former owner of Citylite and Joey and the station’s voiceover is from the latter. The station stayed true to its slogan “Not For Everyone” since it catered to the upscale audience.
