A new Darna is set to soar high this coming week.

The upcoming adaptation stars Jane de Leon as the titular superhero, along with Janella Salvador as  Valentina, Joshua Garcia as Narda’s love interest and Zaijian Jaranilla as Ding, with Iza Calsado on a special participation role as the original Darna.

The series is 11 years in the making. Angel Locsin was the first choice to reprise the role and later on, the role was given to Liza Soberano, but both backed out. The project was originally intended to be a movie under Star Cinema. However, when pandemic got in the way, it was revamped as a series.

Also part of the powerhouse cast of Darna are Paolo Gumabao, Rio Locsin, Richard Quan, Simon Ibarra, Jeffrey Santos, Eric Fructuoso and Levy Ignacio. The adaptation, which is under JRB Creatives, is directed by Chito Roño.

After almost 7 years on the air, the long adventures of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano will end this Friday.

First premiered on September 28, 2015, Ang Probinsyano stars Coco Martin as the titular policeman, along with a stellar cast which consist of either mainstays of the series or guests for every season. It is based on the 1997 hit movie of the same title starring Fernando Poe Jr. as the titular policeman. It was slated to run for a year, but due to popular demand and high ratings, it was extended several times.

The series scored an impressive performance throughout its 7-year run. During its first 5 years, it was the overall top-rated series, averaging within 12-15% (based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM). The upcoming sitcom stars Maja Salvador, Joey Marquez and RK Bagatsing. Maja and Joey starred in a handful of series in the past. Maja and RK were paired in the 2017 hit series Wildflower.

Oh My Korona involves the life of Lavinia (Maja), a hotel manager who inherited a boarding house from her late mother who was a beauty queen and actress and is now a landlady of a group of showbiz wannabes. Talent agency owner Louie (Joey) wants to make Lavinia his prime talent as he manages the other tenants to achieve their own dreams in showbiz. However, Lablab has no plans to enter showbiz due to her issues with her parents. It will be a test for Louie to convince Lavinia to become the superstar she is meant to be.

The upcoming series stars Derrick Monasterio and Elle Villanueva. With Afternoon Prime’s usual reputation as a platform for its up & coming stars, the series marks Elle’s first leading role.

Return to Paradise revolves around Eden (Elle) and Red (Derrick), college students who landed on a distant island after a plane crash. While surviving in the island, they fall in love with each other. When they are rescued, they find out that their parents have an irreconcilable feud which will put their relationship to test.

First aired on April 25, 2022, Raising Mamay stars Ai-Ai delas Alas as the title role, whose life takes a turn when she reveals a secret hidden by her husband and suffers a traumatic brain injury that leads to her age regression. She is joined with Shayne Sava on her first leading role as the daughter.

The upcoming series stars Ruru Madrid as the titluar character, along with Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Paul Salas, Leandro Baldemor, Abby Viduya and Christopher de Leon.

In this series, Lolong (Ruru) gains interest on animals when he was young through the help of his parents Gloria (Abby) and Raul (Leandro).
