First aired on June 12, Love At First Read stars Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara, the latter in dual roles, in their first major pair-up after First Lady. Based on the hit Wattpad series by Chixnita, this is the second installment of the Luv Is anthology.

The series scored an average of 5% (based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM) throughout its entire run. It will have a total of 35 episodes once it concludes this Friday.

10 years ago today, 103.5 K-Lite made its comeback.

THE RETURN OF THE COMEBACK

The original 103.5 K-Lite was on air from October 1995 to November 2006. Initially having an Adult Contemporary format, it switched to a Modern Adult Contemporary format sometime in 2003. By 2007, the station ventured into a series of formats; Heart, carrying an Easy Listening format during the first half of 2007; Max FM, which initially carried a Top 40 format until the middle of 2009, when it switched to a dance format; and Wow FM, which carried a mass-based format from 2010 to 2013.

When 103.5 K-Lite returned on air, it initially carried a Hot Adult Contemporary format, focusing on music from the mid-90s to the present. Its first slogan was “The Hits and Lite Favorites”.

Nag-Aapoy na Damdamin follows the rivalry between Philip (JC) and Lucas (Tony) and the lies involving their respective loved ones Olivia/Claire (Jane) and Melinda (Ria), as well as Philip’s revenge for the death of his parents.

Joining the cast of Nag-Aapoy na Damdamin are Joko Diaz, Kim Rodriguez, Maila Gumila, Carla Martinez, Aya Fernandez and Nico Antonio. The series, which is under JRB Creative Production, is directed by FM Reyes and Benedict Migue.

Jam 88.3 (RBC)

20 years ago today, Jam 88.3 was born. And unlike other rock stations in the metro at that time, it went through some changes throughout the years.

THE FIRST JAM

Prior to its switch to Jam, the station was formerly known as Citilite 88.3, which aired a smooth jazz format. From its inception in 1986, it initially aired a Soft AC format, with a jazz track played per hour. Overtime, more jazz tracks are added every hour. In October 1988, it fully shifted to a smooth jazz station.

When Jam 88.3 made its debut in 2003, it aired a Modern AC format with the slogan “Your Kind of Mix”. Joe D’Mango was involved in running the station during its first few years. I’m not that familiar with its first era. So, let’s move on to the next decade.

THE NEW JAM

Noontime TV competition will never be the same again.

The fiasco began with the TVJ trio resigning from TAPE, which the Jalosloses took over a couple of months ago, and from Eat Bulaga on GMA last May 31. Not long after, the show’s remaining hosts resigned and decided to join TVJ in their next crusade.

The following week, a group of new hosts headed by Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya and Buboy Villar took over as hosts of Eat Bulaga, along with a new set of segments. A few days later, TVJ and the group, now collectively known as the Legit Dabarkads, signed up for TV5, in which they will host a variety show, which remains unnamed, but will most likely carry the Eat Bulaga branding. After 16 years on the air, TeleRadyo will begin its slow transition June 30.

BRIEF HISTORY

TeleRadyo was established in April 2007 as a TV counterpart of the now-defunct DZMM 630, in which it broadcasts the live video feed of the station. While it wasn’t the first to implement the concept, it became a hit for cable viewers.

Throughout the years, this concept was adopted by DZRH for RHTV (now known as DZRH TV), Radyo5 for AksyonTV (now under One PH), ABSCBN’s provincial stations DYAB and DXAB, DZRJ for DZRJ RadyoVision and DWIZ for IZTV. Even a number of provincial stations adopted this concept as well.

PANDEMIC AND FRANCHISE REVOCATION

By the time ECQ was implemented on mid-March 2022, DZMM’s regular programming was put on a halt. It began simulcasting sister channel ANC at times and vice versa.

CROSSING OVER TO Q

By the end of 2019, listeners of 105.1 Crossover were shocked with its abrupt reformat from Smooth Jazz to Top 40. A few days later, it started carrying the Q Radio branding with the slogan “Q is Good For You!” and was revealed that Horizon took over the station’s operations.

Weeks after its launch, Q Radio made a name for itself in the Top 40 landscape with several on-air gimmicks. It became the top channel on TikTok, especially with Show Suzuki’s innovating videos regarding every DJ behind the microphone. Not to mention the station used TikTok for student DJ applicants.

Among Q Radio’s special programs were Q Eclectic, which airs international pop music, and Flashback Sunday, which airs music from the 2000s.

The “Sexy Hipon” ventures into acting via Magandang Dilag.

The upcoming series stars Herlene Budol, along with Benjamin Alves and Rob Gomez. Herlene gained fame in joining Wowowin’s Willie of Fortune, in which she later on became the show’s co-host, and becoming the 1st Runner Up of Binibining Pilipinas 2022.

Magandang Dilag follows the story of Gigi (Herlene), an optimistic woman despite her looks, who faces a slew of events when she inherits enormous wealth from her estranged father. Soon after, Gigi falls in love with Jared (Rob), a prominent triathlete. However, Gigi is unaware that Jared has a long-time relationship, in which she will get fooled to steal her money.
